I too try & live green as much as I can, sadly I can't control the clothes, I'm afraid where I live there isn't much awareness about what's good or harmful to the environment, but I do other little things, like the makeup etc.. at least I'm not totally ignorant about the whole thing.

Emma has 2 more movies coming out. She's never going to be out of the public eye. I doubt that her doing something green will stand out at Brown. Brown has been the new green for sometime. If she wants to be know as 'Emma Watson the student from the UK' and not 'Emma Watson the girl that stars in the Harry Potter films' then she needs to not do things that will land her in the news or the public eye. Designing a collection of clothing puts her out there in the spotlight and in the news, which is just not your average 19 year old college student. If they're ever going to get past who she is and she's ever going to fit in and have a normal experience just like the rest of the kids, then she's going to have to stop doing things that most other normal kids in college don't do. Fact. If she wants them to treat her just like anyone else, she's going to have to stop appearing in the news (for things like designing collections, which she has control over, obviously the paparazzi is different). If they don't always see her face and name being thrown about for things like this, they will move on and she will have a semi-normal college experience.

BUT YES. It is an overall very admirable and good thing she is doing for a charitable cause. It's awesome and if she's going to do something like this at all, at least it's for a good cause. Regardless, she is still being hypocritical and anyone who so pleases is perfectly entitled to point that out. It doesn't take away from the good she's doing and everyone who has criticised her hypocrisy has acknowledged that this move she's made will do a lot of good.

I agree with this. I also think Emma is being a bit naive when she says she wants a completely normal university experience, especially if she actually believes she'll get it. We haven't heard or seen too much about it since she started classes (other than twitter), but even if she did this fair trade stuff before uni, it's obviously giving her publicity now and pretty much anything she does will if it gets out. Keep in mind the line is in the U.K. and Europe only, not in America. It may be getting her face out there but she won't have it where she would be living. It might be on spots like ontd or even get a small mention in a magazine but as far as the general public where she living are concerned they probably won't even know it's going on unless they google her.
